WAFFathon 2012 Official Thread
Welcome, everyone, to the fourth official WAFFathon, making the Internet a little happier. The premise behind the WAFFathon is simple: Fandom is great, but let's face it, it can get pretty dark around here at times. Not to mention that it rains absolute CRAP on the characters we most love. So to make their not-quite-canon lives a little better, and to increase the per-capita volume of Warm and Fuzzy Feelings (WAFF for short) on these here intertubes, the WAFFathon has arrived!
This year I'm upping the ante by putting my money where my WAFF is... see more behind the cut!
How to Play:
1) Comment with a fandom, a pairing, and a prompt. Your prompt can be specific, general, vague, cryptic, silly, goofy, OOC, AU, sexy, anything you like, so long as it brings a little sunshine in the end.
2) Find a prompt you like and make something fluffy and feel-goody out of it. Fanfic, fanart, manips, icons, vids, fanmixes, motis and macros, and anything else creative are all welcome. Adult content is also welcome, but remember that the goal is to be WAFFy!
3) Post it (or a link to it) in the comments.
4) Watch people's lives light up!
The Rules:
1) Provide lots of encouragement to the creators. Feedback. Compliment. Hug. Friend. Mem. It's good karma.
2) This meme will be very lightly policed, but policed it will be. So behave. No trashing of others, fandoms, ships, chars, stories, or the meme writ large will be tolerated. Friendly concrit or suggestions are fine, but keep in mind that we are trying to make people happy, not insecure. As your Moddess Goddess(TM), I reserve the right to do what I feel I need to do. Which I hope will be nothing, but which you are hereby forewarned can change depending on my very mercurial mood. So... like I said. Behave.
3) I have no end date in sight for this meme, but I suggest keeping it a weeklong activity.
4) You are more than welcome to crosspost your creative works wherever you like. It should go without saying that taking someone else's work and passing it off as your own elsewhere is unacceptable by any definition. I refer folks to

A couple of extra things you can do if you want to make everyone happier:
1) Readers/viewers: If you find an author/creative person you like, go back through their other works and comment on them, or rec their works on your journal. Creative people love feedback and it's especially gratifying when you get feedback on something you thought was lost to time and when someone likes your work enough to recommend it to his or her friends.
2) Creators: be sure to thank readers for their time and energy spent on your work. Friend them if they've friended you or recced you. One of the great things about fan-creative communities is the proximity you can have to the people you admire and respect. We don't get to have conversations with Joss and Kripke and the rest, but we can talk to each other and that's even cooler.
3) Pimp this meme to any friends or communities you think would be interested. You can find banners and code at the Banner Thread. Hotlink your little hearts out!
4) If you're feeling really encouraged, please consider making the world a better place on behalf of the fandom community.

Once Upon a Time and Happily Ever After 1/2
Date: 2012-03-12 03:45 pm (UTC)"Hm?" Castiel pauses and turns back from the doorway. Bobby's on the verge of sleep, his eyes drooping, chubby hands gripping the coverlet, but he's fighting to stay awake long enough to satisfy one last burst of childish curiosity.
"How'd you and Daddy meet?"
Castiel smiles. "That was a long time ago," he says after a pause. "A very, very long time ago."
"Like once upon a time?" Bobby yawns, but now he's interested, turning onto his side and squinting, the hall's yellow light reflected in his blue-green eyes.
"Yes. Just like once upon a time." Castiel returns to Bobby's bedside, sits down on the miniature chair where Bobby spends his days drawing pictures and thumbing through books he can't yet read. "Once upon a time, Daddy Dean was in a lot of trouble, and it was Daddy Cas' job to save him."
"So Daddy Dean was the princess and you were the prince," Bobby urges, with all the certainty of a child who's now well acquainted with the structure of a fairy tale.
Far be it from Castiel to disturb his worldview at this tender age and time of night. "Yes," he agrees. "Daddy Dean was the princess." But he has to fight back a snicker to go on. "And the king sent Prince Cas to go rescue him. So the prince went into a very dark kingdom, and fought all kinds of monsters and bad things until he came right to the heart of the castle."
"And the princess was locked in a tower," Bobby chimed in.
"Yes. He was locked in a tower." Castiel's mouth was twitching now. "And when the prince came to rescue the princess, it turned out the princess was under a spell."
Bobby's eyes had opened wide. "Daddy Dean was under a spell?"
Castiel took a breath. That part of the fairy tale had edged closer to the truth than he'd intended. "Yes," he said in a low voice. "He thought he was one of the monsters. And when the prince said to him that he was a princess, Daddy Dean didn't believe him."
"Oh, no!" Bobby squeaked. He pulled the covers up over his mouth and nose, just ringlets of dark hair and big eyes visible on the pillow.
"The only cure for the spell was to bring the princess back to his kingdom," Castiel said. "So the prince gripped him tight and raised him up, and together they flew back to the kingdom and away from the monsters. But even then, it took a long time to break the princess's spell." He closed his eyes, remembering it all. "There were monsters to fight and dragons to slay, and once the prince himself fell under a powerful, evil spell. But the whole time, the princess and prince loved each other very much and wanted to be together." He blinked a tear away, hiding his face. "So even though they had to fight very hard, they also had some very good friends. Like your Uncle Sam, and like your great-uncle Bobby, whom you were named for. So they kept fighting, and at last, after too many hard years, they were able to find their happily ever after."
He glanced toward the bed. Bobby was sleeping. His little fists still gripped the blanket tight, but the rest of his body had gone quiet, and his chest rose and fell evenly. Castiel bent forward to kiss his forehead, then rose and left the room, shutting the door behind him.

Dean's arms were folded over his chest, but when Castiel's eyes met his, he reached out to wrap his hands around his husband's waist instead. "That was one hell of a story you told our little boy."
"True story." Castiel smiled, his eyes glinting. "Right down to the princess part."
"I hate you." Dean leaned in and kissed his mouth gently. "Guess I could have been an evil stepmother."
"That's right, Dean. Count your blessings." Slinging an arm around him, Castiel squeezed Dean close for a moment. "House locked up?"
"Mm-hm. Safe and sound for another night." It was Dean's last remaining quirk -- he locked the house up tight, made sure the wards and symbols on the walls were unbroken, turned on the alarm and switched off the lights. Castiel allowed it because it gave Dean security, but tonight, in the wake of the story, he appreciated more than ever that they'd managed to carve a life out for themselves away from the world of monsters and narrow escapes and rescues. They'd already lived a lifetime of fairy tales -- it was time that they took their rightful place in storybooks and let Dean, Castiel, and their son live in normality, reality and peace.
"Good," he said. "Let's go to bed, Your Majesty."
Dean chuckled. "You're such a kidder in your old age."
"Who's kidding?" But Castiel's lips were twitching beneath the words. Dean just sighed and nuzzled his cheek, and together they headed off in pursuit of their own sweet dreams.
