Here's the deal: Maria Shriver? Total witch. You think Arnold actually got into office based on his sound policy? No, no, no. She's the head of the California-based U.S. National Spellcasters Agency, which, among other administrative tasks, runs the network of magic schools in the US known as the Mandrake League. Among those? Sunnydale, Calif.'s Sunspangle High, led by Headmaster (he prefers the word to Principal) Rupert Giles.
The school itself is rather cleverly disguised as a regular high school, with its share of normal teachers and students. But among the witches and wizards to wander its four houses, each named after an American-native magical beast- King Kong for the brave ones, Thunderbird for the smart ones, Sasquatch for the nice ones, and the loathed Sewer Gator - are several who have been to... well... the mouth of hell.
There's Buffy Summers, master of Defense Against the Dark Arts and pride of King Kong House. Her friend Willow is a smart witch from Thunderbird who's got a knack for Charms and Hexes but tends to bury herself in books. Xander, a Sasquatch, is infamous for being unable to control his broomstick. And, at least at first, Cordelia seemed like the ideal Sewer Gator-- but with the *real* baddies always swarming outside, Sunspangle can't afford to stick too closely to rivalries.
Buffy's hot for teacher - Professor Angel, that is, who teaches Defense Against the Dark Arts. It's too bad you can never tell whether he's friends or enemies with cranky old Potions professor Severus Spike.
