How about Tsukushi as the dead serious scientist and Tsukasa as the braggart, arrogant young fighter pilot who's come right from the Air Force and is totally excited to be going into space, and promptly gets on her nerves and knocks over her lab tables and stuff.

Heroes practically is in anime world already. But FWIW, Peter and Sylar would have to meet at Tokyo Tower and Peter would manage to explode enough to have a huge bubble of light start at the pinnacle of the tower and explode outwards. But not before his hair turned blond and he started screaming like a madman, as Mohinder looked on and said "Oh my god, his power level is OVER NINE THOUSAND!"
Also, Claire would wear a sailor suit.

Oh, God, the things you could do with a Western. You could do Dances With Wolves and have Matt taken in by the exotic-looking Indian chief (I know, wrong kind of indian, I think I will wait for kleenexcow to come down on me like an angry god), or you could have Mohinder as the uptight sheriff's deputy and Matt as the throw-caution-to-the-wind outlaw, or you could have Matt as the justice-loving sheriff who can't read and Mohinder as the city folk who comes west to teach in the schoolhouse, or else he could be the clever thief who robs trains right under Sheriff Matt's nose, or...
for the boys and the ideas... Ooh... Matt as the outlaw sure is an interested idea... But I would probably write something in the line of Matt The Sheriff against Mohinder The Thief...
It's funny you mention Ancient Rome as a genre--I was just telling carmexgirl that I was going to write that for a MattMo AU-- if I *ever* get finished with Chemistry Lessons, that is...
I can't remember what we were talking about, but I said that certain types of stories turn up in just about any fandom and I used Roman slave!fic as an example...that was a new one on her, but now the idea is stuck in my head :D
