NJ Con Wrapup Post - Friday - Pic Heavy!

tiptoe39So the con was fabulous. As cons always are. Super mega fabulous.
Got there at about 11 a.m. Friday. Hooked up immediately with![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
jabber_moose, got our stuff to our room, came back down and got registered - ran into lovedlea and Sascha, our mutual RP mate who came all the way from Australia to meet her and come to the con. They were both adorable. Everyone was adorable tho. So many hugs and smiles and yays. At about 1:30 I got a chance to meet about 20 folks from twitter and tumblr and LJ. I was stunned at the turnout.
Outside the dealers room there was a giant poster of the Impala. Apparently there was a real Impala outside, too, but I just got my jollies posing for animal crackers in front of the poster....
The con proper started at 2. The host was the same guy from last time, Adam Malin. I have a kind of bizarre crush on him, despite the fact that he's a 50-year-old sleaze ball who gouges young college kids out of their last thousand dollars.)
He introduced Gabriel Tigerman, who played Andy Gallagher. Gabriel was so adorable! Here were my tweets about his panel:

After that, Kim Rhodes, who played Jody Mills. She was way younger than she looked on camera, and stunningly beautiful! And this girl kicked serious ass. She relished the idea of a Bobby/Jody romance and said [[[SPOILER, highlight to view]]]Jody Mills would be back in Season 7.[[END SPOILER.]]]

(a random observation not related to Kim specifically) * Cons are like comedy clubs but prettier. These people are all born entertainers. Charismatic and funny. #njcon

* She hates tearjerkers. Feels manipulated. She likes Terry pratchett #njcon
After that I went and got my photo op with Gabriel. He was a good sport and Jedi mind tricked me good! :D
After that was Corin Nemec's panel. Corin had sort of a different feel than the others. He was talking a lot about doing film overseas and sort of went on a bit. You got the feeling that he was a little more Hollywood than the other two. But his hir was a tad bit poofy, completely different than Christian's slick-back. And when I did the photo-op with him, I asked if he would honor me by synchronizing swatches with me, a la Parker Lewis.

After that we waited for autographs. The thing about autographs with these cons is that each row takes about 15 minutes to get through, which doesn't sound like a lot until you're like us in Row D and have to wait an hour. And there were a good 40 rows. XD So there's a lot of line-waiting, but if you have something you want to say to the actor, they have time to hear it.
Personally, I was just stoked to see their reaction to the awesome fanart that HannahBag on Twitter had made for the con. To which the almost universal reaction was a blank stare, followed by the slow eruption o f a huge smile and an utterance of "Awesome!" (Misha is the only one who is utterly immune to cute fanart. He never mentions it. Not last year, not this year.)
Corin Nemec wrote an obscenity on it. You'll see.
After autographs we grabbed a nap in the room and then went out for sushi withlovedlea and Sascha. There is this great Japanese restaurant just on the other side of the highway called Nikko. We took moorishflower there last year, so while we were there this tmie, we called her to tell her we wished she was here with us. She, lovedlea, Sascha and I have done four-way RPs together. We had a terrific, fun dynamic, and we'd done RPs in any number of configurations and subsets, too. So I'm happy to at least have the four of us connect via voice.
Unfortunately the sushi also got me very sick Friday night. But that's neither here nor there.
We came back for the end of the Brian Buckley Band concert which, quite frankly, was pretty awful. The guitarist was pretty good, but I found the songs flat and the vocals uninspired. I know, Jared can pound me into a fine dust for saying so, but they didn't do it for me by any stretch of the imagination.
BUT THAT'S OK BECAUSE AFTER THAT WAS KA RA O KEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
This was the absolute high point of the whole convention. Especially for me as you will see shortly. But from the start it was amazing. They brought out Gabriel first, and Adam joked that he was going to do the entire karaoke party solo. And then he said, "I'm just kidding, let's bring out Richard Speight Jr.!"
And Richard jogged out. And all of a sudden THE ENTIRE ROOM REVOLVED AROUND HIM.
You have no idea. I've heard tales of Bill Clinton's legendary presence - how the minute he enters a room he is the center of gravity and everyone just spontaneously panty-melts in his presence. It was the exact same thing with Richard. He jogged out and down the aisle like a star on his victory lap, dragged the whole back of the room up front, and declared, this isn't a show, it's a party! Then out came Matt Cohen, looking scruffy and delicious, and more spontaneous panty combustion occurred. Out came Kim and Corin too, and they sort of shifted on and off stage all night. Only Richard pretty continuously stayed onstage .
But everyone was on stage for my debut. :D
Now Richard and Matt had joked that they got gay married while they were flying over New York and that NJCon was their honeymoon. So some folks gave them wedding presents, including a very comprehensive gift bag including a feather duster, a vibrator and some Magnum XL condoms. Remember these last two, they will matter later.
Kim read out my name. "I'm looking for tiptoe, to sing santa b... no, santa Gabe-y?"
Both Richard's and Gabriel's eyes bugged out. I got on stage with the Santa hat and pased out copies of the lyrics. Richard ask, "so is this Gabriel Tigerman Gabe or my gabe?" I pointed at him. Gabriel looked all distresssed.
I told him not to worry, I would write him a song next year.
I handed Richard my Santa hat (it's my husband's, he wears it every year around that time). He put his own hat on Gabriel. And the music started up and well here watch it yourself :DDDDDD

Afterward, he gave me a huge hug and said, that was really special. Then he took the mike and said, "I think tiptoe deserves a reward for that." And he handed me the vibrator! XD I was so excited. I waved it up and said, "My husband's out there somewhere. Oh honey, look what we're doing."
And Richard was all "Where's the husband? Raise your hand husband." And when my husband did he said "Good on you, man," and tossed him the magnum XL condoms!!!!!
I jogged off stage giving high fives like a freaking football player. It was like the greatest moment ever. EVER.

We stayed for the whole karaoke party and just had a freaking blast. It was such a great way to start the con.
