Castiel appears, says "Hello Dean," tries to apologize, Dean tries to apologize too, they stare at each other kind of awkwardly, then Dean pulls Cas into a hug.

or they both pull each other into a hug.

And Cas gives Sam a hug too, of course, but he hugs Dean the longest. Of course.

All my money is on he's gonna redeem himself (maybe with Leviathan-killing?) and then disappear/get killed off for good.

But I WANT HUGS GODDAMNIT.

I just want Dean to hug Castiel, and Castiel to redeem himself. Then, if they HAVE to kill him off, because this season CRAVES OUR TEARS, maybe Jimmy can come back and return to his family?

I'm a total spoiler-o-phobe, but apparently Misha and the rest of Twitter didn't get that memo. :P Oh well, I shall rejoice and try not to speculate. My speculations always cause me to be disappointed. :P

Dean & Sam go right on thinking that Dick Roman is the alpha leviathan as they sort out 454895’s meaning. Once they do, they undertake a mission not unlike the Rogue Squadron’s run on the Death Star at Yavin. Only when they think they’ve won do they discover that Dick was merely a mouthpiece for the alpha, who’s retained control of Jimmy Novak’s body. Dean is captured; Sam is beset by worsening hallucinations of Lucifer & Hell. Somehow, Dean escapes & rejoins Sam in time to save his younger brother from himself, thereby proving that Sam really can’t get along w/o him. Eventually, they formulate a plan for an Endor-style run, agreeing it’s likely suicide. B/c they’re the heroes, they succeed in killing the alpha, doing considerable damage to Jimmy’s former body in the process. They try to decide what they’re going to do w/ the body & Cas, now free from restraint, heals the body w/ his grace & wakes up. Dean tells him that next time maybe he should listen to the Winchesters instead of allying w/ demons or concocting some other crazy power-grabbing plan, to which remonstration Cas accedes b/c of his shame at unleashing the leviathans on the world in his hubris. All three walk out to the Impala, where Dean retrieves the trench coat & hands it to Cas, saying “you prob’ly want this back.” Cas says he doesn’t, Dean says in exasperation, “just put the coat back on, Cas. You look like the designated driver at an insurance salesmen’s convention w/out it.” Cas puts it on, Dean suggests pie, & all three go off to find and eliminate the remaining leviathans in the world. Adam’s fate in the Cage & Sam’s hallucinations remain unresolved.

454895 represents a chemical or reagent that can force a leviathan from its human host; trick is that they must be contained & forced back into Purgatory quickly in order to prevent them from attaining a new one, & only He Who Is Like God can pull it off in God’s absence. Sam is informed of this by Lucifer, who isn’t a hallucination; he is communicating directly w/ Sam from w/in the Cage due to a link between Sam’s soul and his grace. Sam rebels at the notion, but Lucifer promises that he won’t try to possess Sam again & will even help rid the planet of leviathans b/c he certainly isn’t letting those guys destroy the planet; if Luci doesn’t get to, nobody does. With Crowley’s help, the boys get the rings & open the Cage back up, releasing Lucifer & Michael; Michael is wearing Adam, Lucifer exits quickly to locate a vessel. This gets the alpha’s attn, who reveals himself after Dick is forced from his host & trapped. Michael & Luci sense Cas in there, but they can’t smite the leviathan w/o hurting Cas, which Dean won’t allow. He banishes the angels before they can try. Sam, catching the backlash due to the grace link, is out cold. Dean is alone w/ Levia!Cas, who mocks him w/ Cas’ feelings for him & taunts that Dean doesn’t have what it takes to destroy him. In a surprise move, Dean rams the sprayer w/ the reagent into Levi!Cas’ mouth & blasts him w/ the stuff. He watches those eyes go from surprised to panicky to begging & finally lifeless as the leviathan is forced out. Michael returns, sees Dean cradling Cas’ body to the ground, & deals w/ the leviathan. “Now you understand the true cost of what I must do in killing Lucifer,” Michael tells him. Dean grates out “I wasn’t killing Cas; I killed the thing that killed him. If you can’t tell the difference, you’re dumber than you look.”

Sam revives as Luci comes back. They hold a hunters’ funeral for Jimmy/Castiel. Michael looks @ Luci. “Perhaps we should try that ‘walking off the chessboard’ thing you suggested,” he offers quietly. “Only if you’re willing to listen this time,” Luci cautions. Michael agrees. After nearly 500 years in the Cage, Michael refuses to leave Adam on Earth to try & recover & assures Dean that he’ll be given a special place in Heaven to recover from the Cage & where he’ll want for nothing. The brothers agree that’s best. Luci heals Sam’s mind in gratitude but leaves the grace link open, just in case. The angels depart. Dean & Sam watch the fire, Dean silently but steadily weeping. He can’t bear to part w/ the trench coat, much as part of him wants to cast it into the pyre & make a clean break. Later, @ the motel, Dean is rummaging through his duffel looking for it when he hears a flutter. Cas is standing there, whole and unharmed. “Cas?” “Hello, Dean.” “You were dead.” “You’ve recovered from that condition yourself on numerous occasions.” Dean stares for a moment, then, not realizing he has the coat in his hand, flings one arm around Cas & catches the back of his head in the other, kissing the angel for all he’s worth. Cas kisses back. Apologies are breathless & made by both sides between frantic kisses, & they fall into bed together. Sam comes in, sees them making out like desperate teenagers & quietly gets another room. When they’re done kissing, Dean stares up @ him. “How?” “I’m to stay with you until the end of your life, Dean; my penance for my acts of desperation & pride.” “What about the Wonder Twins?” “I believe they have finally learned from you & Sam that the fraternal bond s/b their first priority. They are, as you might say, ‘working through their shit’.” “What about Sam?” “Lucifer has agreed to stop tormenting him; he has other thing demanding his attn.” Dean smiles. More kissing. “So your punishment is that you have to be the angel on my shoulder?” “It’s a difficult task, but I’ll muddle through somehow.” “What about Bobby?” “He’s at peace. His wife is with him.” Dean nods, then spreads the trench coat out across Cas’ shoulders. “Then I got no reason to leave this room tonight, do I?” “No, Dean. You don’t.” More kissing, which leads to sex. Sam eventually appeals to Kali to resurrect Gabriel, & they have an epic romance which leads to foursomey goodness.

Eventually, demons get creative w/ C4 & blow up the Impala w/ the boys in it. Gabe & Cas take the brothers to Heaven, where they have OT4 bliss forever & ever & ever.
